A guy who used to rock the sax and clarinet with a band from the ’80s got into serious trouble. Theobald “Theo” Lengyel, also known as “Mylo Stone,” and a founding member of Mr. Bungle, was arrested for murdering his girlfriend, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann. They found her body in the woods of a California park.
Herrmann, a 61-year-old neuroscientist, went missing on December 3, and her family reported it on December 12 when they hadn’t heard from her. The police found her car in front of Theo Lengyel’s place, and he wasn’t exactly the helpful type during the investigation, earning himself the title of a “person of interest.”
As the detectives dug deeper, it became clear that something fishy was going on. They discovered human remains in a park, but they’re still waiting for DNA confirmation. Theo Lengyel didn’t make a fuss during his arrest and is currently chilling in the Santa Cruz County Jail without bail.
This wasn’t Lengyel’s first suspicious move. After Herrmann disappeared, he took a road trip from California to Oregon, covering over 600 miles. Meanwhile, back home, the cops found Herrmann’s car parked in front of his place. Talk about strange.
The police didn’t spill out why Lengyel might have committed the crime. Apart from the murder charge, he’s also facing burglary and auto theft charges. Seems like he’s got a lot on his plate.
Theo Lengyel might have been a big shot in the ’80s with Mr. Bungle, but he left the band in the ’90s on bad terms. They kicked him out because he wasn’t keeping up, and he didn’t take it well. As one of his bandmates put it, “He got pissed off, and I haven’t heard from him since.” Looks like leaving the band was the least of his problems now.
